CHILE – CAPE HORN & FJORDS OF TIERRA DEL FUEGO

DAY 1 : SANTIAGO, CHILE - PUNTA ARENAS

After you reach  Santiago, you’ll fly to Punta Arenas, located in the South of Chile. Then, you’ll travel to Patagonia and head to your hotel.

DAY 2 : CRUISE FJORDS OF TIERRA DEL FUEGO – PUNTA ARENAS

On day two, you’ll check in at the Muelle Arturo Prat of Punta Arenas and set sail through the mythical Strait of Magellan, the Beagle Channel, Patagonia, and the fjords of Tierra del Fuego. You’ll also enjoy a welcome toast with the captain and his crew.

DAY:  3 : AINSWORTH BAY – TUCKERS ISLETS

We will arrive in the vicinity of the Marinelli Glacier in Ainsworth Bay. There, you’ll learn about how life resurfaces after ice melts away. We will hike through the wonderful sub-Antarctic Magellanic forest and visit the Tuckers Islets, where you will see Magellanic penguins and cormorants from the Zodiacs. In September and April, this excursion is replaced by a hike near a majestic glacier in Brookes Bay.

DAY 4  PIA GLACIER – GLACIER ALLEY

We will sail along the northwest arm of the Beagle Channel to enter and disembark in the Pia Fjord. From there, we’ll travel to a viewpoint where you can see the homonymous glacier, which features a main peak that extends from the top of the mountain range to the sea. After this unforgettable experience, we will continue our navigation through  the majestic e Glacier Alley.

DAY 5 : CAPE HORN – WULAIA BAY

Today, we will travel to  Cape Horn National Park. If the weather conditions are suitable,  we will disembark to experience the magic of walking through one of the southernmost points of the world.

In the afternoon, we will disembark at Wulaia Bay, the  historic site of one of the largest settlements of the native Yagan canoeists. There, we’ll visit a viewpoint where you can spot lengas, coigües, canelos, and ferns.

DAY 6 : USHUAIA ARGENTINA – PAMPA GUANACO CHILE

It’s time to explore Ushuaia, the most important Argentine city in Tierra del Fuego and the southernmost city in the world. We’ll also visit Hosteria Las Lengas, located on the shores of Lago Blanco.

DAY 7: KARUKINKA NATURAL PARK – CALETA MARIA

Today, we continue our journey towards the Andes and Cordillera Darwin, observing a huge variety of native birds, such as Bandurria and Caiquén, along the way. We will also visit  the Karukinka Nature Park, a wonderful nature reserve that remains untouched by human presence. It  is also home to Guanaco, condor, and culpeo fox, which are  in danger of extinction. The native flora of this park features unique mosses and lichens, as well as Lengas, Coigües de Magallanes, and Ñirres.. During our tour, you can also observe large areas damaged by beavers, which in total cover almost 300 square miles of forest and peatlands.

After taking in the scenery,  we will go on a short Pietro Grande trek. We’ll stop to see  Estancia Caleta María, an impressive bay sheltered by the Andean mountain ranges. Then, we’ll spend a cozy night at a lodge on the coast of Seno Almirantazgo.

DAY 8: ALBERTO DE AGOSTINI NP & GLACIER NUEVA ZELANDA

After breakfast, we start navigating through the strait of Almirantazgo to the glaciers of Parry Fjord. Our next stop is in Parry Bay. Later, we continue sailing the Fuegian Fjords, admiring the mosaic of landscapes that make up the Alberto de Agostini National Park and the Darwin Mountain Range. Once we reach the New Zealand Glacier Beach, we’ll disembark on the zodiac support boat to start the walk along  the lagoon. Be sure to keep an eye out for icebergs. As you  passi through the sub-Antarctic forest, you can  enjoy calafate and chaura (native wild fruit) when in season, and after an hour, you’ll reach the imposing wall of the Nueva Zelanda Glacier. There,you can observe the remains of the fuselage of an Argentine bomber, which crashed in 1950. Afterwardsr, we will admire the landscapes in the light of the setting sun as we make our return journey.

DAY 9 : CALETA MARIA – KING PENGUIN RESERVE – PUNTA ARENAS

We will say goodbye to our  unusual corner of the “end of the world” and travel back towards the Strait of Magellan and Punta Arenas . Along the way, we’ll stop at the King Penguin Reserve to observe these majestic birds. Later, in the evening, we’ll settle in at the hotel for an overnight stay.

DAY  10 : PUNTA ARENAS - SANTIAGO, CHILE

It’s time to bid a fond farewell to the wild Patagonia and go to the airport in Punta Arenas. Together, we’ll fly to Santiago, Chile. From there, we’ll say our good-byes as you board your return flight.
